The suspect is being held in the Hamilton County Jail on charges of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and the Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga police have arrested a suspect in a shooting on Dodds Avenue Friday.

It happened around Noon on the sidewalk at 709 Dodds.

A nearby daycare was put on lockdown because of the shooting.

The operator says they could hear the shots, so they immediately secured the facility and none of the 45 kids were harmed.

Officials say it seems to be a drug deal on the street that ended with gunfire.

The 25 year old victim was just grazed by one shot in the side, and did not go to the hospital.

A police officer was nearby and immediately chased the subject.

Eventually officers spotted the suspect car at a home.

They called out the SWAT team to take the suspect into custody.
