Chattanooga Police double number of safety cameras

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Police Department adds 14 new public safety cameras to their intelligence network.

This gives them a total of 29 cameras around the city.

A lot went into the decision on where to put each of the new cameras.

Police talked to the community, consulted officers on the street, and crunched three years of crime stats.

They are targeting places with the most and the worst crimes.

They are also moving five of the cameras they put up last year.

The locations are not secret.

And they don’t try to disguise them.

They are in a two foot tall white metal box marked with CPD badge and a blue flashing light on top.  the boxes are mounted on EPB poles.

And CPD is telling us where they are.
