CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Chattanooga Police Department has released its 2025 crime data.

They say that criminal homicides have fallen by half, as only 14 people were killed in murders last year in Chattanooga.

That is down from 27 in 2024.

The number of shooting victims went down by 26 percent as 61 people were shot last year.

That is down from 82 in 2024.

CPD also says they have a 94% homicide clearance rate.

Chattanooga Police in their post say the drop is due to, “While many cities saw a drop in homicides last year, Chattanooga nearly doubled the national average of a 20% decrease, and that’s not a coincidence. CPD’s success comes from our continued commitment to intelligence led, data driven, and community focused policing strategies as well as our investment in technology, like the Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC), Crime Gun Intelligence Center, and drones.

We also have to thank our local and federal partners and the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office for their contributions in reducing gun violence in Chattanooga.”
