Chattanooga police searching for suspect after shots fired

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — An individual shot at multiple vehicles Wednesday on Bonny Oaks Drive, according to Chattanooga police. They are still searching for those responsible.

Chattanooga Police say no one was injured.

Witnesses of the shooting gave the CPD suspect vehicle descriptions. Police then started an area-wide search.

One witness told officers that a white Kia was involved. Police then stopped a car that fit the description, which is the video included. Officers quickly realized the people in this Kia were not involved.

One individual, Camron Hilt, was arrested. However, police do not believe he was the shooter either.

Chattanooga police said Hilt’s vehicle had damage from the shooting.

Police say he threw a gun and narcotics while trying to get away from them. They recovered the evidence and arrested Hilt without any issues.

Hilt’s charges include tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of a firearm, among a few others.

Chief Celeste Murphy stated that the officers quickly de-escalated the situation. She recognized the importance of transparency during this time and the impact that traffic stops can have.

The CPD is still looking for the second suspect vehicle from this shooting.

They ask that anyone with information call 423-698-2525 or submit a tip through the Atlas One App. You may remain anonymous.
