Chattanooga promoting Phil Noblett to City Attorney
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Mayor Andy Berke and the Chattanooga City Council are choosing Phil Noblett as City Attorney and Chief Legal Officer for the city.
He was a member of the legal firm Nelson, McMahan & Noblett from 1990-2009, where he worked several cases for the city.
“Phil is an ideal fit for this role,” Mayor Berke said. “He is a skilled litigator and legal strategist with an exceptional understanding of municipal law that goes back nearly 30 years. He is uniquely and eminently qualified to be our next City Attorney.”
Noblett was appointed Deputy City Attorney in 2009.
“I’ve had the privilege of representing the City of Chattanooga and many other municipalities over my career,” Noblett said. “It’s an honor to serve as the next City Attorney and work alongside our dedicated City Council and Mayor as we work to make Chattanooga a stronger, more equitable and inclusive city for all Chattanoogans. I am grateful for the support of my wife, Peggy, and our three children, during my 30-year career in municipal litigation and representation.”
