Chattanooga Rallies Behind Young Fire Victims
They say it’s a constant reminder of two parents who lost their lives in a blaze, which broke out one day before Thanksgiving.
Judy Sanders, a neighbor, says, "I think Mark, the little boy, was in shock because he just didn’t say anything and the girls were just crying."
Mark, Haley, and Rebecca are 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Red Bank Elementary School.
They now live three doors down at their grandparents house.
Principal Haley Brown says they’ve collected new clothes, backpacks, and all the emotional support they could muster.
Brown adds, "We spent a lot of time making sure that their return to school was as smooth as it could be, and just making sure we had as many of those emotional supports in place."
The school also made arrangements for the children’s current teachers to be at Candy’s funeral Tuesday afternoon.
Randall just passed away from his injures Monday, so One Accord Community Church is working on raising money for his burial.
Norman Lowe, a Deacon at One Accord Community Church, adds, "We’re going to have to start campaigning to get the money to purchase that one."
Lowe says the church has been receiving calls from concerned citizens in other cities and even states.
They’ve collected three new beds and food.
Now, they’re just looking for monetary donations for the children and all the extra love anyone can spare.
A fund has been set up at all First Tennessee Banks.
It’s listed as "Lockhart Relief Fund."
You can also drop off your donations at One Accord Community Church in Red Bank.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
