Chattanooga Salvation Army needs donations of new box fans to help people beat the heat

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The Salvation Army needs your help to keep families cool during these dog days of summer.
The Salvation Army worries it will not be able to distribute any fans this Friday.
That’s because as the temperatures rise again, individuals are turning to the Salvation Army to get relief from the heat.
    But supplies are running low.
More than 300 families have already gotten box fans, but 32 more remain on the waiting list.
Kimberly George works as the Marketing Director for the Chattanooga Salvation Army.  She said, "And on Fridays is when we typically distribute the fans.  This Friday we have no fans left to distribute.  So we are in desperate need for the community to go out and buy new box fans and donate those to the Salvation Army."
You can drop off new box fans at any of the Chattanooga and Cleveland Salvation Army locations.
That includes the locations at 822 McCallie Avenue, 2140 East 28th Street and in Cleveland at the Salvation Army at 435 Inman Street.
Monetary donations are accepted at 822 McCallie Avenue and online.
    You can also call 1-800-Sal-Army.
