CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Police Department says around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning Demetrius Bailey was taken into custody. Officers saw the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. A pursuit began and after some time, with the help of East Ridge PD, Bailey was apprehended.
New details were revealed in the arrest affidavit about what led up to the reported kidnapping and rape.
In the affidavit, after giving the suspect and a few others a ride, the victim says they were getting gas when the victim saw a friend of his wife. At that point, according to the report, the victim told police that he felt something hard press against his side and he soon realized it was a gun.

The victim told police that the suspect, Demetrius Bailey, told him to “stay calm and do what he was told to do”. The victim says he tried to alert the friend of the situation, but he doesn’t believe she picked up on it.
After leaving the gas station, the victim says they drove to a home on the corner of 12th Avenue and E. 21st.
The victim says that he was forced to go to the basement area of the house.
The victim says that he did exactly what the suspect ordered him to do because “he felt his life was in danger after multiple threats [were] made by the suspect, stating to do what he is told and everything would be okay.”
The victim says the door was guarded by an unknown party, according to the victim’s statements in the affidavit.
The victim says he was forcibly raped twice by the suspect from Tuesday evening to Friday morning.
The victim says that Friday morning, while Demetrius Bailey’s attention was drawn away by another person, he was able to escape.
Using the victim’s account of what happened, the suspect’s street name “Meechie” that was heard by the victim, and a photo lineup, the victim was able to identify Demetrius Bailey in a photo line up, according to the arrest affidavit.
