Chattanooga Unite Concert welcomes tens of thousands

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Thousands are showing their strength, Wednesday afternoon, for the Chattanooga Unite Concert on the river to support and honor the lives and families of the five fallen service members: Sgt. Carson Holmquist, Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Staff Sgt. David Wyatt, Lance Cpl. Squire K. Wells and Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith.

"I’ve cried just about the whole time since I’ve been here, it’s very emotional," said local resident Cindy Thomas. But it wasn’t a sad event; everyone was actually all-smiles as they celebrated the lives and legacy of those five men.

Samuel L. Jackson hosted the event, with performances from Harry Connick Jr., and the country superstar behind all the magic, Brantley Gilbert.

"It’s good to be together, and be united and support these families, members of the families and friends of the fallen," said local resident, Cleveland Wheeler.

The event was free, but donations were welcomed to help support those family members who lost so much.
