CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The sounds of Africa are just a couple weeks away from gracing Holtzclaw Avenue.
The Chattanooga Zoo is officially opening their long-awaited Cape of Africa exhibit on August 31.
This is an entirely new section. At just under $4 million, it is the single-biggest expansion in Zoo’s history.
Warthogs, servals, and porcupines are just some of the exotic critters featured in the exhibit.
The expansion will also include a larger giraffe yard, a serene stream, and a new group entrance!
The Zoo broke ground on the first phase of the African expansion in 2019. They brought giraffes in 2020!
Now, the second phase of the project is coming to fruition with The Cape of Africa.
