Chattanooga zoo welcomes special guests from Disney Animation’s Frozen
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – As the New Year begins, the Asian Lantern Festival is coming to a close at the Chattanooga Zoo, giving families one last chance to experience the glowing celebration.
For the final two nights of the festival, January 16 and 17, the zoo will welcome two special guests, Elsa and Anna from Disney Animation’s Frozen.
The beloved princesses will be available for meet-and-greets and complimentary photos with festival admission.
The Asian Lantern Festival features hundreds of illuminated lanterns, some reaching heights of up to 26 feet.
Nearly 50 distinct displays line the zoo, many of which move, blow bubbles, or change colors, creating an immersive and interactive experience for visitors of all ages.
Jake Cash, director of marketing and communications for the Chattanooga Zoo, says the event has been a standout seasonal attraction.
“We’re really excited to bring this awesome holiday light celebration to Chattanooga,” Cash said. “It’s one of the most unique holiday celebrations in the city, and if you have some Christmas spirit left, come enjoy the Asian Lantern Festival with us.”
Elsa and Anna will appear at the zoo’s Education Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both January 16 and 17.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own devices for photos.
Ticket prices vary by membership status.
Chattanooga Zoo members can attend for $19 for adults and $14 for children ages 3 to 12.
Non-member tickets are $23.50 for adults and $17.50 for children.
Groups of 15 or more qualify for a discounted rate of $16.50 per person.
Children two years old and under are admitted free.
The Asian Lantern Festival runs for just two more nights, offering a final opportunity to ring in the New Year surrounded by light, color, and a little winter magic.
