Chattanooga Zoo’s annual Valentine’s Day celebration

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Zoo hosted its annual Valentine’s Day celebration, Hearts and Hisses.

This family-friendly event gave guests the chance to participate in a zoo-wide scavenger hunt, create Valentine’s Day cards for both their favorite animals and loved ones, and watch animals interact with themed enrichment activities.

Throughout the day, special keeper chats highlighted the zoo’s animal pairs and their role in Species Survival Plans (SSP), which help conserve endangered species.

During these chats, zookeepers engaged directly with guests, providing presentations, answering questions, and demonstrating animal behaviors.

Featured animals included red pandas, chimpanzees, tamarins, blue duikers, hellbender salamanders, and more.

Animals across the zoo also received special enrichment activities designed to encourage their natural behaviors.

All Hearts and Hisses activities including crafts, games, presentations, and animal meet-and-greets were included with regular zoo admission.

The event ran from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., while the zoo remained open for its normal hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
