Chattanooga’s first baby in 2019 born at Erlanger

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Erlanger welcomed the first baby of the year born in Chattanooga.

Madelyn Rae Barnett was born at 1:02 a.m. on Tuesday.

She weighed six pounds and one ounce and was 18.5 inches long. Her mother was in labor for 19 hours.

Madelyn’s parents are Kristen French and Adam Barnett. She is their first child.

They say she is quiet and has been sleeping a lot.

French says it is exciting to have a New Year’s Day baby.

“I thought she was going to be born the 31st. I had no idea it was going to be the first of the new year. So it is kind of crazy,” French said.

Her parents say they are thankful she is healthy and that there were no complications during the birth.
