CHI Memorial extends influence in Georgia with Fort Oglethorpe deal

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – CHI Memorial has signed a deal to manage the Cornerstone Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe.

Cornerstone is the former Hutcheson Medical Center.

Hutcheson went bankrupt after a deal with Erlanger fell apart and ended with lawsuits.

ValorBridge bought the facility in bankruptcy court and re-opened it a year ago.

“In recent years, CHI Memorial has expanded its service to patients in North Georgia, re-opening Hutcheson primary care clinics in Chickamauga, LaFayette and Trenton under the CHI Memorial Medical Group brand, opening The Chattanooga Heart Institute clinic, and expanding access to providers at CHI Memorial’s Family Practice Associates – Ringgold and Professional Park Associates in LaFayette, Georgia,” says CEO Larry Schumacher.

“In managing Cornerstone, CHI Memorial leaders and physicians will work collaboratively with the providers at Cornerstone, lending their expertise in clinical process improvement, safety, and excellent patient experience, to provide high-quality care for the people who live and work in North Georgia.”
