Women’s National Health Week is May 8th through the 14th, and CHI Memorial is encouraging women ages 35 years and older to come get a free mammogram from their mobile screening unit.

This weekend the mobile mammogram bus was located at Orchard Knob Middle School. Dr. Takeyla Williams is a breast cancer oncologist and surgeon, she said she can’t stress enough the importance of getting a mammogram annually, no matter how old you are.

“You should really be getting mammograms up until your life expectancy is just 10 years. So, we still should have women coming in here to get their mammograms in their 80’s or even their 90’s,” Williams said. “I can’t stress the importance of getting an annual screening enough”.

The mobile mammogram unit is scheduled to come to a series of locations in the Tennessee Valley.
