Chickamauga man sentenced after admitting to shooting wife while high on meth

CHICKAMAUGA, Georgia (WDEF) – The trial of a Chickamauga man ended abruptly when he decided to plead guilty.

Aaron Anthony Holland admitted to Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

The case involved a “shots fired” call to a home in Chickamauga in July of 2019.

Walker County deputies found a woman shot in the back, screaming in pain.

They found her estranged husband, Aaron Holland, inside as well.

Officials say Holland was armed with multiple weapons, including a .380 pistol.

She identified Holland as the shooter when she called 9-1-1.

They played that recording at the trial before Holland decided to plead guilty and throw himself on the mercy of the court.

He told investigators that he was high on meth at the time.

The trial and plea happened in December.

Last week, a judge sentenced Holland to ten years of jail time, with no parole as a repeat offender.
