Child dies in Cumberland County house fire

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A child died over the weekend in a Cumberland County house fire.

The sheriff’s office said the fire happened around 5:30 p.m. central time on Sunday at a house on Fall Creek Road.

They said a five-year-old child was in the house and unable to escape the fire.

First responders airlifted the child’s mother to a burn center in Nashville to be treated.

The TBI is still investigating the circumstances of the fire and trying to determine the cause.
