Chimps leaving the Chattanooga Zoo

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Zoo made a sad announcement Tuesday.

Their current chimpanzee group is departing for a 22 acre zoological insitute in Indiana.

They’ll make the move next Wednesday, the 13th.

The chimps, named Goliath and Randi, arrived at the Chattanooga Zoo 14 years ago in 2001.

The folks at the zoo say that joining a larger troop of chimps in Indiana will help the Goliath and Randi to live more naturally and grow as intelligent individuals.

The Chattanooga Zoo is hosting a Chimpanzee going away party this Saturday, May 9th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Guests will have the opportunity to bid farewell to Goliath and Randi.

They’ll even have a goodbye card stations for guests to create their own farewell card.
