City Council Votes to “Ban the Box”

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The Scenic City is giving convicted felons a second chance, after City Council members voted today to "Ban the Box".

That means the infamous "Have you ever been convicted" question will be removed from city job applications. Advocates say that gives individuals with criminal records a better chance at getting a job.

The decision only affects those applying for general service, or non-critical positions, but applicants will still be required to share details about convictions if asked about it during an interview.
