City Employee Suspended for Misappropriation of Funds
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A Chattanooga city employee could be suspended, accused of misappropriating funds.
In a memorandum by city auditor Stan Sewell, the issue is over a conflict of interest.
The memorandum says Youth and Family Development Administrator Lurone Jennings used more than 18-thousand dollars on a non-profit, Journey Educational Servies.
J-E-S’s executive director is Jennings’ daughter, Luronda Jennings, which violates the city’s ethics policy.
In an interview provided by the city auditor, Mr. Jennings says, “I’m guilty and whatever the consequences, the challenges I have to face… I have to pay the piper too, as I have to be accountable, as I expect others to be.”
Of the nearly 30- thousand dollars spent, only 15-hundred aligned with the purpose of the Y-F-D opportunity fund.
