City government of Collegedale announces passing of Judge Kevin Wilson
COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (WDEF) – On Saturday, the city government of Collegedale announced the passing of Judge Kevin Wilson.
According to city officials, he passed away Friday, January 9, 2026.
Judge Wilson is described as a highly respected member of the Collegedale community and a dedicated public servant.
They say he was an active member in his community as well as his profession.
In the year 1990 he was elected as the Collegedale City Court.
That was the first year the position became an elected position and then was re-elected four times
Judge Wilson served as City Judge until his passing.

“City officials, administrative staff, and the employees of the City of Collegedale are mourning the loss of Collegedale City Judge Kevin Wilson, who passed away Friday, January 9, 2026.
Judge Wilson was a highly respected member of the Collegedale community and a dedicated public servant. He was elected as the Collegedale City Court Judge in 1990, the first year the position became an elected position. Over the course of his distinguished career, he was re-elected four times and faithfully served as City Judge until his passing.
“Judge Wilson exemplified what it meant to serve with fairness and integrity,” said Collegedale Police Chief Jack Sapp. “He was a steady presence on the bench, a mentor to myself and countless colleagues, and a friend whose counsel I valued greatly. His absence will be felt throughout our community.”
In addition to his service to the City of Collegedale, Judge Wilson was an active member of the Chattanooga Bar Association, the Tennessee Municipal Judges Conference, the Tennessee General Sessions Judges Conferences, and the American Collectors Association (ACA) International. He also served on the Board of the Collegedale Tomorrow Foundation.
Judge Wilson was deeply committed to civic engagement and education. He regularly spoke to local school groups, judged high school mock trial competitions, and participated in class functions at Southern Adventist University’s School of Business, including serving as a judge for the Business Law Class Moot Court event.
Collegedale Municipal Court Clerk Rachel Shuttles reflected on Judge Wilson’s character and impact.
“He was a caring and compassionate judge as well as fair and firm when needed,” Shuttles said. “Judge Wilson loved his job, and it was an honor to be able to work with him for a long as I did. He will be greatly missed and will always have a special place in our hearts.”
The City of Collegedale extends its deepest condolences to Judge Wilson’s family, friends, and all who were touched by his life and service. His legacy of integrity, dedication, and compassion will continue to be remembered throughout the community.”
