Clean Air Chattanooga honors some local students

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Some officials are wanting to clear the air in Hamilton County.

They met at the health department today, to discuss smoke-free workplace policies, public housing, and youth e-cigarette prevention.

Mayor Jim Coppinger honored numerous organizations for their efforts in helping make their communities tobacco-free — including the five Hamilton County students who advocated for tobacco-free school campuses.

“The outpouring of people that complied and said, you know this is a good idea, I do care about my children’s health, or I do care about other people around me’s health. This is a very unique community where people give back so much and this is just a way for them to be able to give back to the people in their surroundings.”

Attendees also listened to lectures, informing everyone about positive changes coming to Chattanooga.
