Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney “Ask Alabama If We’re a Fraud” After Tigers Win National Title

Last year’s national title game between Bama and Clemson was a dandy, and the rematch proved just as thrilling Monday night, as the Tigers edged the Tide in the final *second* to win the national championship.
When Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts scrambled for this 30-yard touchdown to put the Tide up 31-28 with roughly two minutes to play, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was not worried.
Said Watson:”I just smiled, and I just knew. Told my guys hey, let’s be legendary. Let’s go be great. I knew. I told myself they left too much time on the clock.”
Sure enough, Watson led the Tigers to victory, hitting Hunter Renfro with one second left to give Clemson a 35-31 victory, and the national championship.
Said Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney:”It was no upset tonight. It’s the last thing I told them when we left the locker room. I said when we win the game tonight, I don’t want to hear one word about this being an upset.”
Said Bama head coach Nick Saban:”You have to give a lot of credit to Clemson because they made some really good plays down the stretch. I mean they made some great catches.”
It was a vindicating victory for Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney.
Said Swinney:”We beat the last seven national champions all of them this year. One of the questions right before the game was how are you going to block these guys? Like we’re chop liver. I get so tired fo that stuff. The guy that called us a fraud. Ask Alabama if we’re a fraud. Was his name Colin Coward? Never met him. Don’t know him. Ask him if Alabama thinks we’re a fraud. Ask Ohio State if we’re a fraud. Ask Oklahoma.”
Bama led by ten going into the fourth quarter, but their vaunted defense could not get enough stops against Clemson who ran 99 plays with Watson throwing for 420-yards.
Said Saban:”We never got done what we needed to do. So we had our chances and there’s nobody we can blame but ourselves.”
Said Swinney:”The flag with the paw is flying on top of that mountain tonight.”
