Cleveland City Schools announces pay increase

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Cleveland City Board of Education approved a new starting salary for teachers, as well as raises for all full-time employees.

The Board approved a new starting salary of $50,000 for teachers.

They made the unanimous decision to approve the pay raise in their 2023-2024 budget.

All full-time current employees will receive pay raises.

“We are honored to show our support and appreciation to our exceptional employees with additional employee compensation,” Dr. Russell Dyer said. “We are so grateful for their continued commitment to our students in Cleveland City Schools.”

The school system said this is possible because of the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement Act, which Governor Lee signed into law in May 2022.

Governor Lee also previously proposed to bring the minimum teacher salary in Tennessee to $50,000 by 2027.

Cleveland City Schools also shared their open positions to their website.
