Cleveland City Schools approve new start time
The new schedule will begin in the 2023-2024 school year
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) — Cleveland City Schools approved a new start time for the upcoming school year.
The Cleveland City Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the new start times for the 2023-2024 school year.
They previously provided multiple options to staff and family. The school system announced on Tuesday that the third option was chosen.
Cleveland middle and high schools will have the new schedule of 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Cleveland elementary schools will have the new schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
After providing a survey to staff and family, they determined that 56% of employees and 48% of parents preferred this option.
School board members also voted to increase bus driver pay. Bus drivers’ new pay will increase to $22 per hour. The school system voted to include a performance bonus in the regular salary to do so.
