Cleveland School Board votes to immediately terminate Director of Schools Dr. Ringstaff
CLEVELAND, Tenn (WDEF) – Director of Schools Dr. Martin Ringstaff offered to resign on Friday, if the school board would meet conditions laid out in a letter from his attorney that included vacation compensation, among other things.
But board members instead voted to terminate him immediately instead.
The vote was 5-2.
Dr. Ringstaff was caught in another sex scandal for the city.
A twitter account posted salacious posts in his name.
Dr. Ringstaff said it was a fake account, but admitted he did make the statement a year ago.
The board member who proposed the termination said “He told each one of us a lie, and we had to take the heat for it.”
Another board member said he had several requests from citizens to know if the person he was involved with was another member of the school system.
But the board decided they would not discuss that in public, since they could face future litigation.
Cleveland’s police department has gone through several sex scandals in the last couple of years.
