Coaches and Media Tab Notre Dame to Win Region 3-AAA This Fall

Chattanooga-(WDEF) High school football in Tennessee kicks off in less than a month. Thursday we got a mini-preview of several Chattanooga teams as Region 3-AAA held their media day at Howard.

Even though Notre Dame is new to Region 3-AAA, they were still picked to win it. Sounds like it’s already a win-win for Irish coach Charles Fant.
"I love our district. A lot nicer not having to drive all the way into the central time zone to play football. This is amazing. Our farthest drive I think is to Signal Mountain, which is 15-minutes away."
East Ridge will have a veteran team with 20 seniors. And coach Tracy Malone hopes his guys work like veterans.
"We graduated probably one of the most talented players to come through East Ridge in the last 20 some odd years. But we had seniors that were the last ones to the practice field everyday. And that really just ticked me off."
Getting big numbers is always an issue for CCS, so getting faster should help the Chargers.
Said head coach Rob Spence,"Our overall team speed has improved greatly. You can see that in the spring when we timed our young men in the forties. The incredible drop in their times."
Red Bank will be tested this season with a brutal schedule.
Said head coach Chad Grabowski,"We probably have the toughest schedule in Chattanooga, if not in the state of Tennessee. We play Baylor. We play McCallie. We play Alcoa."
Signal Mountain currently has only 38 players after new coach Ty Wise installed competitive workouts this off-season.
"We have trash cans every where in our weight room. There’s vomit. There’s a lot of stuff going on. So there are some kids where it’s just not for them. So the 38 that I’ve got are 100-percent fully committed. They’ve bought in, and they’re the ones that earned the right to go out on Friday night."
Mark Teague wants his guys to buy-in for his second season at Howard.
"We want to teach our kids the difference between committment and interested. We tell them if you are just interested, you’re only going to do it when it’s convenient for you. If you are committed, you’re going to do it with no excuses and make it a priority."
