Coker Tire has been purchased

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Coker family no longer owns the Coker Tire Group.

The company announced Thursday that Coker Tire President and CEO Wade Kawasaki, existing leadership team, and Irving Place Capital have purchased all the assets of Coker Tire.

The company is based in Chattanooga and is the world’s largest manufacturer and supplier of collector vehicle tires and motorcycle tires.

Corky Coker was the last family member to have ownership in the business.

Kawasaki has led the company since Corky retired a few years ago.

“After Cokry retired in 2014 and I took over the reigns of the company It’s been a great opportunity to continue to learn, and we’re really looking at having really built a solid foundation to be able to expand upon. Cory will always be around to give us great advice and we look forward to keeping him involved as much as we can,” Kawasaki said.

Corky’s father Harold founded the business in 1958.
