Cold Case Unit Close To Naming Suspect in 19 Year Old Murder

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – This coming Saturday will mark the 19th anniversary of the murders of Sean and Donny Goetcheus.

The teens were shot execution style in their home on Rosewood Drive.

On Thursday, District Attorney Neal Pinkston announced that the Cold Case unit is close to naming a suspect in the murders.

But they still need help from the public.

Pinkston says in the last few months, they have determined that Donny Goetcheus was in fact the target of the attack, instead of Sean.

He says they have been looking at suspects in both Hamilton and Marion County.

But they need more background on Donny’s routine before and on the day of the shooting.

They would like to hear from:

— anyone who talked to Donny between Thanksgiving and January 9th, 1997.

— anyone who knew him well or knew his activities.

— and specifically to a woman that Sean talked to on the phone the day of the murder who was helping him find a car part.

There is a $21,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects.

The Cold Case Hotline is 209-7470.
