Collegedale Academy holds 38th annual food drive

COLLEGEDALE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Collegedale Academy students brought in, collected, and donated around 10 thousand pounds of food for a Brainerd food bank.

This is the 38th annual CAD-4-HOPE for Collegedale Academy.

This year the school chose to collect food for Brainerd Community Food Pantry.

Collegedale Academy High School Chaplin Chris Massengill says it’s rewarding for him and the students to be able to help the community out and just before the holiday season gives it that extra meaning.

This is something we want our students to be involved in at the school to go out and serve others. It’s not about how much we bring in it’s about the people that we impact in our community and I’m thankful to have partnered with this great food pantry to bless those in need the season.

President of the advisory board of Brainard Community Food Pantry Bess Steverson says 11 thousand pounds takes care of an entire day of food donations from the food back, so Collegedale academy filled this nearly by itself.
