Collegedale collision involving a train and another vehicle

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Yesterday evening, a collision occurred involving a vehicle and a train at the railroad crossing near College Drive East and Apison Pike in Collegedale.

The vehicle stalled on the tracks just before the crossing arms lowered for an oncoming train.

You can see parts of the plastic from the car, lying in the ruble.

No injuries have been reported as occupants were evacuated before the train struck the vehicle.

At 11:55 pm, the railroads crossing at the intersection of Collegedale Drive East and Apison Pike were reopened to normal traffic.

Collegedale police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol say updates will be shared when they become available.
