Colton Moore wins uphill Republican battle for State Senate in Georgia
ROCK SPRING, Georgia (WDEF) – Dade County Republican Colton Moore defied expectations and party leaders to claim a primary victory on Tuesday to represent northwest Georgia in Atlanta.
He defeated Stephen Henry in a close vote for the 53rd District State Senate Seat.
Moore won by just 800 votes.
His victory was over the Commission Chairman from the most populous county in the district (Catoosa).
Plus Steven Henry was endorsed by Jeff Mullis who held the seat for years before retiring this year.
In fact, Moore ran against Mullis two years ago and lost badly.
Before that, he represented Dade and Walker County in the state house.
The winning candidate joined us live from his election headquarters Tuesday night to comment on his campaign.
He says it is no accident that voters in this part of the state chose both him and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
He says voters want a fighter in their lawmaker.
Moore does not face a Democratic opponent in November.
