Commander of Chattanooga Naval Reserve Center Speaks to Commission
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF-TV)- The Hamilton county commission this morning honored two members of the Naval reserve unit where the tragic shootings occurred on July 16th.
Commissioner Sabrena Smedley introduced Lt. Commander Tim White and Chief Petty Officer Joseph Capozzi.
They received Certificates of Appreciation from the county.
In addition to their service here in Chattanooga, the award noted their tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Even though sometimes we have a hard job as service members, it’s great to know that we’re not alone in that service; that our community stands behind us, all the way from the citizens and all the way up to the board of commissioners and the mayors, and it’s just been really amazing, very uplifting and encouraging."
Families of the two men were also on hand to take part in the presentation.
