Congressman discusses what’s on his plate this week

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The U.S. House of Representatives will be waiting a little longer to get a Senate version of the health care bill.

While he was in town, WDEF asked Congressman Chuck Fleischmann about what’s going on in Washington D.C.

He confirmed that it appears a vote on the health care bill has been pushed back.

“It looks like now because of Senator McCain’s surgery that the health care vote will be delayed for a week.  So, we’re just going to remain ready, willing and able to address that and anything else that comes up,” Congressman Fleischmann said.

The Republican said when he returns to Washington on Monday it will be appropriations bills on his plate.

The U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 3rd congressional district is on the appropriations committee.

He said the House will be getting five bills completed by the end of the month, and will be meeting with the Senate and President to get a budget done for 2018.
