Coolidge Park Gets Tourism Boost

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – City and state leaders gathered at Coolidge Park on Monday as the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development presented a $90,000 Tourism Enhancement Grant to the City of Chattanooga.

The grant is part of a statewide effort that awarded more than $2 million to 30 communities to strengthen local tourism assets and increase economic impact.

Chattanooga will use its funding to support the Coolidge Park Live & Electric Project, a multi-phase improvement plan focused on upgrading the park’s main performance space.

The centerpiece of the project is a new permanent, weather-protective bandshell cover designed to eliminate rain-related cancellations and elevate the park’s event capabilities.

The structure will pair with a permanent stage and updated electrical systems to provide better acoustics, improved visibility, and a more professional setup for performers and audiences.

City officials say the project is aiming to be completed in May of 2026, creating a year-round, weather-ready venue that will support concerts, festivals, and community gatherings.

Mayor Tim Kelly, Commissioner Mark Ezell, the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors, and Chattanooga Arts, Culture and Creative Economy were all on hand for the check presentation at the Coolidge Park stage.
