Corker and Blackburn discuss fighting human trafficking
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Senator Bob Corker was in town to show support for US Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn and learn more about the fight against human trafficking.
They attended a discussion with the non-profit organization Second Life Tennessee. They talked about what is being done to combat modern slavery and human trafficking.
Senator Corker co-sponsored the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act. It is legislation to target online sex trafficking domestically by providing victims the opportunity to seek justice against websites, like Backpage.
He says Blackburn continues to be involved in the fight against human trafficking.
While some people say he has been a timid supporter of Blackburn, he says that’s not the case.
“I don’t know for what reason they have continued to say that kind of thing, it is just not the way things are. I am thankful that she shares, that she mentioned the other day in her debate, she shares a deep concern for this particular issue,” Senator Corker said.
Senator Corker says Democratic US Senate candidate Phil Bredesen is a friend, but Corker still supports Blackburn.
