Corrections Officer bitten in courthouse fight

A suspect tried to get the gun off another officer before hearing

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – A court officer was bitten by an inmate according to the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.

Last week, Corrections Deputy Amber Owens was doing her usual job at the Courthouse, shuttling suspects between the holding cell and court.

The Sheriff’s Office says that on Thursday morning, inmate Jacob Crouch assaulted her and tried to get her gun.

As they fought, two other inmates jumped in to help Deputy Owens.

The fight literally spilled into the courtroom, where other deputies jumped in.

During the fight, Corrections deputy Adam Beard was bitten in the hand.

So Crouch now faces a charge of Aggravated Assault and Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Plus he will also face in-house discipline.
