COVID-19 vaccine protest in Fort Oglethorpe

Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. (WDEF)- Supporters of Tennessee Neighbors for Liberty protested Saturday in support of Nurses and staff members at CHI Memorial in Ft. Oglethorpe.

The group is calling for medical freedom.

This comes after CHI Memorial required employees to get the vaccine in order to continue working at its hospital and branches.

Organizers say that the protest was also in support of employees who work at other companies that are requiring the vaccine like Blue Cross Blue Shield and TVA.

News 12 talked to a retired nurse and a concern citizen about their thoughts on the requirements.

Pam Skipper, a retired nurse, says, “We are here taking care of your loved ones and we have rights as well and you should respect those rights just as we respect their rights to get the jab.”

Mac McGregor is running for Georgia Lieutenant Governor.

He is calling for politicians to stop the mandates.

“Why are they allowing this to happen. Why are they allowing good nurses and doctors to lose their job over something that is, I mean if it’s mandated, then its against the law. It’s not a law. So, why are they pushing this upon people and making them lose their job”, adds McGregor.

The CHI Memorial vaccine requirement goes into effect on November 1st.
