UPDATE: Fatal Crash closes I-24 West at mile 151

UPDATE:  Authorities say a tractor trailer crossed the median and crashed into oncoming traffic killing 69-year old Robert Gage of Illinois and critically injuring his wife Sharon. The truck driver, 56-year old Norman Bruan of Pennsylvania, was not seriously injured.

Marion County, Tenn. (WDEF) – Tennessee state troopers are investigating the deadly afternoon crash in Marion County.

Highway Patrol Sergeant Alan Bailey tells News 12 it happened around 3pm on I-24 West near the Kimball exit.

The crash involved a tractor trailer and a Chevy Tahoe.

One person in the Tahoe died.

Troopers had to close the left lane for awhile, so the second passenger could be airlifted to Erlanger hospital.

The driver of the tractor trailer was also hospitalized.

THP still doesn’t know what caused the crash.


Marion County, Tenn. (WDEF) — According to TDOT Smartway Traffic, a crash has Interstate 24 westbound closed at mile marker 151.

THP has confirmed one fatality in the crash that involved a tractor trailer.

TDOT estimates the crash will be clear by 7 pm Central Time.

East bound traffic is not affected, according to TDOT.
