Creative Discovery Museum celebrates the Chinese New Year

Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chinese New Year celebrations continue this weekend.

Several hundred people turned out for a celebration event here at the Creative Discovery Museum.

It’s for the year of the rooster.

Activities included the Chien Hong Lion Dance Troupe, martial arts, cooking and music.

This is the seventh annual tradition for the museum.

“We have these cultures in Chattanooga and so we wanted to emphasize the community groups we have here and it’s just a wonderful way of bringing in and celebrating the new year,” said Liza Blair with the Creative Discovery Museum.

The next scheduled cultural event is the traditional folk arts festival in June.
