Crematory Operator Brent Marsh Released from Georgia Prison After 12 Years
WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – Ray Brent Marsh pleaded guilty after almost 50 uncremated bodies were found scattered around the Tri-State Crematory in Noble, Georgia in 2001.
Marsh faced 787 counts of theft by deception and abuse of a corpse.
He was sentenced to 12 years at Central State Prison in Macon.
He was release early Wednesday morning.
Federal, state and local agencies later confirmed that the remains of 339 people were recovered.
A series of lawsuits followed, the Tri-State Crematory building was torn down and placed into a trust.
Marsh told investigators that his crematory equipment had broken down months earlier and he could perform the service for local funeral homes.
It is not immediately known where Brent Marsh will make his home now that he’s out of prison.
