COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (WDEF)- Crews are currently working to clean up last week’s train crash wreckage on Apison Pike in Collegedale.

Crews have been out since 7 a.m. this morning and beginning the long straining process of making sure the railroad crossing is clear and safe for traffic to cross.

A neighbor of the crash site is appreciative of the hard work crews are putting in to fixing the area despite the cold weather. Troy Mann, who lives near the train crash, said that, “They’ve done a very good job. They’ve all joined together, worked together, the city of Collegedale and Ooltewah has worked together to clean the area up as well as they can and as you can see they’re working on it today.”

The crossing will be closed until 7 p.m. tonight. The situation began last Tuesday when a truck driver abandoned his truck in front of the train, causing a collision and derailment.
