Crime scene detective describes the process of securing multiple scenes on day three of Chen trial
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Wednesday was day three of the Jason Chen murder trial.
Chen is charged with the first degree murder of Jasmine Pace in November 2022.
The lead crime scene investigator dominated day three of the Jason Chen murder trial.

Michele Johnson of the Chattanooga Police Department what she described on various crime scenes both here in Chattanooga and in Nolensville in Middle Tennessee.
Johnson described the scene at Chen’s apartment after applying Bluestar Agent.
This substance illuminates the presence of blood that may be invisible to the naked eye.
Co-Prosecutor Paul Moyle asked Johnson,”How would you describe the Bluestar reaction that you saw inside of Chen’s apartment?”
Johnson responded, “Really intense, and long duration. It was probably the most I’ve ever seen on reaction with Bluestar.”
This was one of many tasks Johnson had to undertake as the lead crime scene investigator.
She was responsible for virtually all photos taken, and described to the Nashville based jury what she was looking for in each photo.
One such photo was of a scrubbing brush on the floor of Chen’s living room.
Johnson remarked, “After seeing the cleaning done throughout the apartment, it was a possibility that there’s probably some cleaning was done.”
Numerous psychical pieces of evidence were also shown to the jury throughout the day.
These included a portion of Chen’s carpet with dried out blood stains among other belongings.
The defense in their questioning to Johnson pressed her on concerns about the crime scene being compromised.
They argue the scene was comprised due to multiple searches before a search warrant was executed.
Chen’s defense attorney, Joshua Weiss, asked, “Anyone who comes into a crime scene is able to add something to it?”
Johnson responded, “Correct.”
Weiss asked “Or taking something away?”
Johnson responded, “Correct.”
Weiss asked, “Capable of contaminating it?”
Johnson responded, “Yes.”
The prosecution continues their case on day four of this murder trial on Thursday.
