CVMS teacher named finalist for Georgia Teacher of the Year

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga Valley Middle School teacher is named one of the finalists for the 2024 Georgia Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Katie Stewart is one of ten finalists for the upcoming award, according to Walker County Schools.

Stewart is a 7th grade language arts teacher and gifted coordinator at Chattanooga Valley Middle.

Superintendent Richard Woods flew in by helicopter to make the announcement this morning.

All ten finalists will meet with a panel of judges for formal interviews and speeches.

The 2024 Teacher of the Year selection will take place in June this year.

“We are so proud of her and can’t wait for her to represent WCS at the next level!” Walker County Schools expressed on Facebook.
