Dade County alerts to keep residents safe

DADE COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – Dade County authorities are helping their residents stay safe by using a technology to alert resident about what’s going on in their neighborhood.

News 12 visited the Dade County Communications Center today to look at the county’s hyper reach system.

This system was used over the weekend to notify folks in the area that authorities were searching for a man connected to a stolen vehicle.

The county was able to alert 379 people about what was going on.

Emergency Services director Alex Case says this is an important system for the community.

This is an opt in service, so if you live in this area you can sign up on the county’s website.

Case also addressed the stolen vehicle incident, adding that authorities have actually recovered another stolen vehicle on Wells Road.

An investigator tells News 12 that they have one man in custody and are still looking for the other.
