Donations help law enforcement give stuffed bears to kids in need
TRENTON, Georgia (WDEF) – The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 86 is helping to put small stuffed bears in the hands of kids in Dade County.
They have been raising money to put a bear in the hand of every deputy and Trenton police officer in the area.
The officers give them to children who are going through a trauma.
Carlton Stallings from the Lodge tells us “When they do roll up on these calls and a small child is upset, crying, it gives an officer a minute to bend over, give them a bear, talk to them, and take a lot of the pain out of what’s going on right then and take that traumatic experience out of their head and let them focus on something positive for a few minutes.”
And you can also make donations to buy more bears.
