Dade County Sheriff’s Office welcomes new K-9 deputies
DADE COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Dade County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) has recently welcomed new K-9 deputies to the team.
These three new pups will join the DCSO K-9 unit, join K-9 deputy Tank, and soon to be retiring K-9 deputy Rocco.
K-9 Zeus is a male German Shepard and able to join the unit after a grant was awarded to the sheriff’s office, donations raised from a DCSO campaign and from community members.
Zeus will begin training with hid handler in the coming weeks and will begin duty in December.
K-9 Georgia is a female bloodhound, and the first ever bloodhound to be on the DCSO K-9 unit.
Georgia will be assisting the unit by tracking fleeing suspects and lost persons.
She has already been placed with her handler.
Georgia was donated from a local breeder in Dade County, and should begin training very soon.
K-9 Thor is a male Belgian Malinois, who was donated from a breeder in Atlanta.
Thor has already been placed with his handler and has actually already started his training.
He’s full of energy and ready to start his new job with the K-9 unit.
“Police K-9’s play a crucial role in discovering crime, as well as deterring crime. These new additions will further our mission of stamping out illegal drugs, catching bad guys, and letting the criminals know that we mean business here in Dade County. We can’t thank our community enough for supporting our cause, and helping us get these K-9’s,” said Dade County Sheriff, Ray Cross.
