Dalton now offering monoclonal antibody treatment to inmates

REGEN-COV is for the early stages of Covid to keep you from getting sicker

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – The City of Dalton is now offering free monoclonal antibody therapy to inmates at the Whitfield County Correctional Center who are COVID positive.

The therapy drug is called REGEN-COV.

It has received emergency FDA approval for COVID positive, symptomatic individuals.

The inmates are alotted an hour for the treatment.

Officials hope by offering the therapy, COVID spread in prison will be lessened.

The City of Dalton also offers the treatment for free to the public.

REGEN-COV drastically lessens COVID symptoms if taken early, avoiding hospital stays and even death.

“They’ve taken a big time lead in this arena and they’re really just trying to get our residents in this region vaccinated and for the people that have breakthrough cases, we’re trying to get them healthy and keep them out of the hospital.”

The treatment is four shots in the stomach.

It must be given in the very early stages of the virus.
