Dalton Police Investigate Credit Card Fraud And Local Tire Theft
DALTON, Georiga (WDEF) – Dalton Police are investigating three different fraudulent credit card transactions at a local tire store that resulted in the theft of more than $4,000 worth in tires.
The suspects who picked up one of the sets of tires were photographed by the store owner.
The fraudulent transactions took place on August 14th and August 25th at Arevalo’s Tires and Service at 312 Glenwood Avenue.
The first two orders were placed by phone on August 14th.
One order was placed for $1,620 for six 265/70R17 CPR Discover tigers and four 275/60R15 CPR Cobra tires. The second order was also placed August 14th for $1,180 for a set of four 245/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler tires and two 10PLY 265/75R16 tires.
The customer paid with a Visa card. The customer did not want the tires installed.
After they were picked up, the store received word on August 18th that the charges were fraudulent.
A third order was placed using a different Visa card on August 25th. The order was for a set of four 295/75R22.5 tires in the amount of $1,700.
Like the first two orders, the order was made by phone and the customers did not want the tires installed.
The store owner was suspicious due to the similarity of the previous theft, and took a picture of two of the three suspects who arrived to pick up the tires.
Nearly two weeks later, the store was notified by its bank, that the third charge was also fraudulent.
The suspects in the third transaction were three black males traveling in a white Ford minivan with some damage to the back lift gate.
Pictures of the suspects are included with this release.
