Dalton Police looking for Ferret Thief on Groundhog day
DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) It may be Groundhog Day, but Dalton Police say they have ferrets on their mind.
They are asking the public’s help to find a man who took took a baby ferret from a cage at Petland.
He was with a group of six people who came into the store several times on the evening of January 27th.
After the group came and went a few times, the male and two females re-entered the store after 9:40 PM.
Investigators say the male stuck his hands in the cage and concealed the baby ferret in his shirt sleave.
The investigating officer wrote he then “quickly walked out of the store while contorting his arm at odd angles and moving it around as if he were concealing something within his long sleeves.”
The suspect is a black male with short black hair. He wore a thick black jacket inside of the store.
Police have included photos of the other five people in the group.
